FS12 Update Report - History of Assistive Technology Outcomes
(Updated June 18, 2003)
Assistive technology outcomes has been a relatively new research area. Discussions are scattered throughout the literature over the decades. However, only since the 1990’s has the outcome of assistive technology been a significant concern for assistive technology practitioners or the research community. This field scan reviews the literature from an historical perspective providing a chronology of authors who have discussed assistive technology outcomes over the years. It also highlights parallel events that have occurred interacting with AT outcomes work or, potentially even serving a causative effect. Its focus is outcomes measurement in the context of overall outcomes research.
